Local community groups will benefit from Federal Government funding to upgrade their facilities, Federal Member for Higgins, Kelly O’Dwyer MP, has announced.

In Ashburton, the Craig Family Centre, the Ashburton Community Centre, Pied Piper Toy Library, Samarinda Ashburton Aged Services and the YMCA Ashburton Pool and Recreation Centre will all receive a boost to their services from Round 3 of the Government’s Stronger Communities Program.

1st Glen Iris Scout Group, STC South Camberwell Cricket Club and St Mary’s Salesian Amateur Football Club will soon enjoy revamped facilities in Glen Iris with assistance from these grants.

“I am delighted that the grants of between $2,700 and $18,000 will be used for improvements to community facilities and new equipment. This is a great opportunity for local organisations to deliver projects that will contribute to the long term well-being of our community.

“All of these organisations make a wonderful contribution to our local community by strengthening social connections and encouraging participation in a wide range of activities, with the ongoing support of dedicated volunteers,” Ms O’Dwyer said.

The Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Programme provides grants of between $2,500 and $20,000 for local projects that bring social benefits and help maintain strong and vibrant communities across Australia.
