The Australian flag will soon be proudly on display at Mecwacare in Malvern thanks to a
grant of $760 to install a new flag pole under the Australian Government’s Saluting Their Service
grants program, Federal Member for Higgins, Kelly O’Dwyer MP, has announced.

The Saluting Their Service program provides funding for projects and activities that honour the
service and sacrifice of our servicemen and women who have fought to defend our values and
freedoms.

“I congratulate Mecwacare Malvern Centre on this initiative to fly the Australian flag on days of
commemoration, when we reflect on the significant contribution of those who have served in our
armed forces.

“I encourage any local community organisations interested in applying for one of these grants to
contact the Department of Veterans’ Affairs’ Commemorative Grants team on 1800 026 185 or email
commemorativegrants@dva.gov.au,” Ms O’Dwyer said.

The Saluting Their Service Community Commemorative Grants program provides up to
$4,000 for an individual project. It is a rolling grants program, so applications are accepted
at any time.
