Local Sporting Champions

The Local Sporting Champions program is an Australian Government initiative designed to provide financial assistance for juniors towards the cost of travel, accommodation, uniforms or equipment when competing, coaching or officiating at an official national sporting organisation (NSO) endorsed state or national sporting competition or a School Sport Australia national championships. Sporting Schools

Sporting Schools aims to encourage a wider participation of sport in school and to foster a lifelong connection with sport for the students. More information is available here.

Community Heritage Grants

The National Library of Australia administers this program to provide grants to not-for-profit organisations such as archives, historical societies, museums and libraries, to assist with the preservation of nationally significant collections of historical material. Veterans’ Grants

The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) offers a variety of grants for a wide range of purposes and activities to our support veterans and to honour the service and sacrifice of Australia’s service men and women.   More information on the DVA grants programs is available at DVA’s website.

State Government Grants – Victoria

The Department of Planning and Community Development’s Find a Grant lists a large number of Victorian Government grants by area of interest and by program. Grants are available for a wide range of groups and projects including volunteers, sporting groups, community infrastructure and multicultural events. The Grants Information Line (phone 1300 366 356) staffed by Information Victoria can provide general information about programs and funding.

Local History Grants Program (LHGP) administered by the Public Record Office Victoria.

Sport and Recreation Victoria funding.

Arts, Culture and Heritage Grants to support the maintenance, use and education of heritage sites in the state.

The Victorian Multicultural Commission provides community grants.

Local Government Grants

City of Boroondara Community Grants program provides funding for local groups and clubs for projects, events or activities that support the wellbeing of the community.

City of Glen Eira Community Services Grants offer a range of grants programs for local projects and events.

City of Stonnington provides Community Grants and Arts and Culture Grants to help local organisations provide services to the community

Non-Government Grants

Charities Aid Foundation allows charitable organisations to be placed on a registry to be matched with corporate donors and sponsors.

Commonwealth Bank Staff Community Program aims specifically to assist community groups with projects that improve the health and well being of children and young people nationally.

The Community Enterprise Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Group.

Foster’s Community Grants for specific projects run by community groups and charities.

Holden Home Ground Advantage (HGA) supports grass roots sporting clubs around Australia.

The Ian Potter Foundation

Landcare Australia offers grants through a number of programs.

Leader Local Grants  are available from Leader Newspapers to support ideas that will help improve the local community.

Macquarie Group Foundation supports groups and activities in Australia and overseas.

RACV Community Foundation provides funding to help grassroots organisations deliver vital local projects to helping those in need.

The Mercy Foundation provides support for organisations involved in reducing inequality and poverty in Australia .

The Myer Foundation and The Sidney Myer Fund

National Australia Bank provides regular community grants to organisations nominated by employees.

The Telstra Foundation provides community development grants for projects particularly aimed at children and young people. They also provide assistance through their Indigenous Community Development program and Social Innovation Grants.

Commercial sources of information on grants

A number of commercial enterprises provide assistance and advice via subscription services to databases and printed materials, including grantsearch which publishes the GrantSearch Register.
