The latest crime statistics paint a startling picture of Victoria under Daniel Andrews.
The Victorian Crime Statistics Agency’s latest figures show that crime has increased in many suburbs in Higgins, including Malvern (25.6%), Glen Iris (32.4%), Ashburton (43.3%), Carnegie (33%) and Toorak (24.7%).
These increases are simply unacceptable and show that Premier Andrews has lost control.
While law and order is predominantly a state issue, all levels of government must work together to help combat crime.
The Federal Government is doing what it can within its powers, including cancelling visas where criminals are not Australia citizens.
Locally, I have been proactive in working with the community to deliver federal funds for Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras and new lighting.
But the State Government must provide the frontline police needed to keep us safe, as well as tougher bail and sentencing laws.

My upcoming Higgins Community Crime and Safety Forum will give the community a chance to have their say on this important issue. Guest speaker Greg Davies, Victims of Crime Commissioner and former Senior Sergeant, will provide his expert insights.
The Forum will be held on Monday, 3 April 2017, from 6.30pm to 8.00pm at the Banquet Hall at Malvern Town Hall, Malvern. Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org or 9822 4422.
