As part of the commemoration of the Centenary of Anzac, I am pleased to announce that I am conducting a Higgins Anzac Centenary School Poetry Competition.
This will be a chance for students to express their thoughts on the Centenary Commemoration of World War I, as we remember the service men and service women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country during the First World War. I hope this competition will be an opportunity to help connect students with this important landmark event in our nation.
The poetry competition will have three levels of entry, Primary School, Years 7- 9 and Years 10 – 12.
The competition winners will have their poems published in The Leader newspaper and receive a Centenary of Anzac Poetry Prize.
A panel including Mr Michael Gleeson, Editor of the Progress & Stonnington Leaders, Presidents of local RSLs and the Chairman of the Higgins Electorate Anzac Committee will select the winning poems.
Entries should be sent via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or to Suite 1, 1343 Malvern Road, Malvern VIC 3144 and arrive no later than 5pm on Monday 22 June 2015.
