Local community groups will benefit from Federal Government funding for upgrades to their facilities, Federal Member for Higgins, Kelly O’Dwyer MP, has announced.
In East Malvern, the Avalon Centre, Chadstone Lacrosse Club and Ewing Kindergarten will all receive a boost from Round 3 of the Government’s Stronger Communities Program, to help with upgrades to premises and new equipment.
Gumnuts Playgroup, Stonnington Toy Library and Stonnington U3A in Malvern, as well as the Country Women’s Association in Toorak and the Melbourne Bowling Club in Windsor will enjoy revamped facilities and technology upgrades with the assistance of these grants. Taskforce Community Agency in South Yarra will purchase a car to increase the capacity of its outreach program.
“I am delighted that the grants of between $2,500 and $16,000 will be used for improvements to community facilities and new equipment. This is a great opportunity for local organisations to deliver projects that will contribute to the long term well-being of our community.
“All of these organisations make a wonderful contribution to our local community by strengthening social connections and encouraging participation in a wide range of activities, with the ongoing support of their dedicated volunteers,” Ms O’Dwyer said.
The Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Programme provides grants of between $2,500 and $20,000 for local projects that deliver social benefits and help maintain strong and vibrant communities across Australia.
