SIDS and Kids in Malvern will receive a grant of $18,325 to upgrade its communications technology under the Federal Government’s Stronger Community Programme which supports local organisations to improve their infrastructure.
Local MP Kelly O’Dwyer said the money would help SIDS and Kids to save lives and to better assist families dealing with terrible circumstances.
“Through this funding, SIDS and Kids will be able to significantly improve its ability to deliver education programs that help save the lives of babies and young children, as well as provide vital support services for bereaved families,” Ms O’Dwyer said.
The Toorak Bowling Club will also receive up to $15,535 under the Stronger Communities Programme for replacement of the clubhouse roof.
Other local organisations to benefit are:
- The 13th Malvern Scout Group, with a grant of up to $5,370 for a wiring upgrade and the installation of smoke alarms and reverse cycle air conditioning;
- Prahran Mission will receive up to $5,018 to upgrade its Goodwill Shop; and
- Inclusion Melbourne in Armadale will receive up to $7,000 to install a solar hot water system.
“All of these organisations contribute to the wellbeing of our local community by promoting social inclusion and supporting participation in a range of activities and I wish them success with these projects”, Ms O’Dwyer said.
