A special Higgins Community Forum this month will focus on the issue of community safety.

Host of the event, Kelly O`Dwyer MP, said local Prahran Police Inspector Adrian White would be the special guest on hand to answer questions and hear concerns from residents.

Also present will be Stonnington Mayor Tim Smith, State Upper House MP Andrea Coote, Margaret McClean from Reclaim Chapel St and Oskar Cebergs from Streets Ahead.

Ms O`Dwyer said the forum was in direct response to the messages she was receiving from the community about safety concerns and comes off the back of her campaign to fund CCTV cameras in crime hotspots.

¨The issues of crime, safety and security come up in my conversations with constituents all the time. This forum will give residents the opportunity to speak to people who are on the front line and who can provide solutions,¨ Ms O`Dwyer said.

¨More people are feeling less safe in our community. These are serious issues that need to be addressed.

¨We are looking for feedback from local residents, and to hear from local police about how residents can secure themselves, their families and their homes and property.

¨As always, local, state and federal representatives will be listening and taking direct action on how we can improve community safety in Higgins,¨ Ms O`Dwyer said.

The forum will be held from 6.30pm – 8pm on Wednesday, 21 July at Prahran RSL, 301 High St Prahran.
